Things have changed in Brooklyn.

Brooklyn is undergoing a renaissance. When the Brooklyn Nets move in next year, they will be Brooklyn’s first professional sports team in nearly sixty years. Williamsburg is home to some of New York’s best fare. Sure first time visitors like to stay in Times Square since they don’t know better, but anyone who’s seen the Statue of Liberty before knows that, like many cities, there’s more to be uncovered than what meets the eye, which is why so many are opting for a Brooklyn hotel instead.

When you stay in a Williamsburg hotel, you have access to the JMZ trains or the L train if you want to go to Manhattan, but these days you don’t need to. Visit different parts of Brooklyn by taking the new ferry. Whitman would’ve approved. The South Williamsburg dock is just a few minutes walk from your Williamsburg hotel. North Williamsburg is teeming with cafes and nightlife. BAM and the Brooklyn Museum of Art are just a short ride away on the G train and offer their own distinct dose of culture.

Ten years ago you’d have to go to Manhattan to go out on Saturday night for dinner and a good time. These days Manhattanites come to Brooklyn to really feel what’s going on in the city.

Many borough neighborhoods have Halloween parades prior to or on the day of Halloween. After these events, children may then go trick-or-treating. Participants will line up at Peggy O’Neil’s on 1904 Surf Avenue at West 19th Street and proceed down the boardwalk between MCU Park and the New York Aquarium. Registration starts at 11:30AM and the lineup starts assembling at 12:45PM. When you reach the parade’s destination, enjoy the Halloween Ascarium, which is free with general admission and free for kids who come in costume!
